It's still a buyers market in our part of the world and the decline in mortgage interest rates has made this an excellent year to buy. Mount Snow's owners continue to invest in skiing and boarding and installed a new gondola-style lift to be ready for ski season. The long-dormant Haystack ski area was purchased by the owner of the Hermitage Inn and a new ski-home trail and home construction is underway there. August 28th's Hurricane Irene brought devastating flooding to Vermont's mountain villages but clean-up and recovery began immediately with help from across the country.

While many Wilmington village buildings are under renovation, some have re-opened already thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit and volunteerism that make this such a special place to live and work.
