While snow was in short-supply in the Northeast, Mount Snow made as much snow as possible and their new Bluebird gondola lift was very popular. Haystack re-opened also with a ski-home trail to the Hermitage Inn and several new homes under construction at the base of the mountain.

It's very much a buyers' market in our area, but mortgage rates have started to tick up to the 4% level recently. There is a large inventory of houses and condominiums available at all price points.

Wilmington's historic village has had many businesses reopen since the beginning of the year. Recently I participated in the sale of Manyu's brick building in the center of town where renovations are underway with the goal of getting this central building back in use as soon as possible. The new owners, the Wilmington Fund of Vermont, plan to assist in our area's rebuilding and growth. Dots Restaurant has just announced their plan to rebuild and reopen with an ambitious fund-raising schedule.

Many individuals and groups have stepped up to help. The Preservation Trust of Vermont has been in the forefront of many efforts - they know the value of our village which is a huge draw both to residents and visitors. Within 2 blocks, there's a hotel, bookstore, public library, town office, retail shops, restaurants, bars, offices, two parks, churches, a historic cemetery, apartments and homes.

Our area offers a wide range of prices and properties from simple camps to newly built luxury homes. Because Vermonters have a long-term commitment to our natural environment, this part of the world doesn't look like everywhere else and we are happy about that.
